When looking through some of the other directions to making these crayons I found most people suggest cutting the crayons into tiny fine pieces, this was found unnecessary!! I used knife and just cut my crayons into about 8 pieces per crayon, this made for easy placement into the mold!
Another thing is that you don’t have to use an oven in the melting process. Some other suggestions I read stated baking at 210 for 15 minutes then placing in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and if you are anything like me dealing with a rambunctious 3 year old you don’t have time for that!! Although this was something my little one really enjoyed doing she was very anxious to see the finished product quickly so I found that using a microwave on high for 3 minutes works great! If you are using one color crayon just use a tooth pick to stir if there is any slightly unmelted pieces left and then place back in the microwave for another 30 sec-1 min. But one thing that was super fun for my little one was mixing similar colors such as yellow and green and pink and red! This makes a super cool marble effect that even transfers onto paper!
These crayons I made for my daughter class to help when they learn about the letter B next week. So I packaged them up in just a strip of plastic wrap and a piece of ribbon. But we have also made some as gifts, goodie bag fillers, and just for fun!! I hope this helps and happy coloring!!!
